Winter Tedium...

Here we are less than a month away from the reopening of Striper season.  I cannot wait!  Hopefully we get an early start.  I can't wait to feel the pulsing fury of a big Bass at the end of my line again!  Not to mention it will be great just to get back out and about again.  Get the girls out fishing, walking the sand, mud, and asphalt again.  Getting the boat back out...I can't wait!

In the meantime, I've found a few ways to pass the time and keep from going completely insane.  I started carving lures.  Plan on turning some plugs too, when my Dad and I finally get all the necessary tools set up.  So far it has been a lot of fun, and a nice change from carving ducks.  I've also taken to pouring jigs and sinkers.  And of course, tying flys.  If you're in the market for some lead, give me a shout.  Here are some of the things I've accomplished so far:

The plugs, as you can see, are still works in progress.  The red head and green are finished, except for adding hooks.  The black one is still being painted, might add some flash too.  The jig picture turned out blurry for some reason, but those are my offerings if you can make them out.  The surf sinkers (Sputniks) too.

My friend Mike has just started a website promoting his awesome custom rods.  Please pay him a visit and see what he has to offer.  He makes phenomenal rods, custom fit to your size and needs.  They don't get any better!  www.kmcustomrods.com/
There
is a link on my photo page, down on the bottom, as that was the only place it would fit for some reason.  Sorry Mike, I'll try to fix that when i figure out how to!

Well, that's it for now.  Here's hoping for a speedy arrival of Spring!

Tight Lines,
Capt. Frank
